Sainsbury Parking Ticket
Got a £30 fine last week. I had a parking ticket but it wasn't properly displayed, had slipped down the dashboard so wasn't fully visible.

Emailed Sainsburys with both parking ticket & fine attached, as well as proof I had been shopping in there at the time. Got back a standard reply saying I had to contact Horizon parking directly. I'd imagine if I went in store i'd get a similar reply.

Any advice on what to do next? I'm guessing we're past the days when you can just ignore them, have read stuff online that once you get in contact with them then they have your details and can go through the courts.

Re: Sainsbury Parking Ticket
Dont ignore it. Unfortunately it needs to be visable at all times.

I would pay it, then raise it on sicial media with sainsburys. If you word correctly i bet they'll refund you...

Burn their head office down and hopefully destroy the proof?

I'd contact them and if you have the receipt from shopping still which will have a time and date stamp on it similar to when they issued you your ticket, then they should listen.

Obviously also having the ticket that wasn't fully on display with it's date should also help.

They're just bullying cunts who hope people won't question it.

That's what I figured. It's only £30 if I pay it now so might be more hassle than it's worth fighting it.

Re: Sainsbury Parking Ticket
The parking control companies have become more likely to pursue you for this unpaid invoice. It's not a fine.

They don't usually care what your explanation is.

The solution is usually to go into the store and give your explanation to the store manager. From my experience they can tell the parking control company to cancel it. They don't want to lose customers.

I have had to do this for my daughters three times.

I've had two of these so called fines from Parking Eye and on both occasions I binned them.
They earn millions from the poor suckers that pay these mickey mouse fines.

Don't ignore it. They are getting tougher on these nowadays and have found that they have more success with people who ignore.

Apparently you have a 61% chance of success if you appeal to Popla, and given your circumstances you'd almost certainly win.

So are these leeches taking people to court now ?
The only court case I know of was Parking Eye and they lost !!!

Re: Sainsbury Parking Ticket
ive noticed more and more that they are actively pursuing lower value tickets now.

take the advice of an ex-bailiff, and someone who deals with legal matters everyday. pay it now, then take it up with sainsburys via social media

Hmmmmm This seems to agree with Alan's post but I still can't find a successful court case.

Same thing happened to me, sent copies of the parking ticket and receipt to the parking firm and they cancelled the fine.

Re: Sainsbury Parking Ticket
What are they invoicing you for?

What have you got proof you paid for?

Tell them to do one.

They don't have the law on their side. They are chancers.

That sounds promising. I have the parking ticket but not the receipt although I paid in-store on my card so Sainsburys will be able to confirm this.

Will give that a go first, then if that fails will go back to the store and ask there. If that doesn't work will just pay it and try and get the £ back through posting on their facebook page.

Re: Sainsbury Parking Ticket
I got a fine about 3 years ago, not for Sainsburys but at Brookfield shopping centre. The difference with mine was that it was a free car park but you still had to get a ticket which I did.
A week later I got the fine saying that I had overstayed the 90 minute time limit. I had no idea that there was a limit, and there were no signs to say so.

Looking on line for information I found out that all these companies can legally only charge you for the money they have lost out on. So in our case if I had left on time, the next person would have been free. So we ignored it We got letters about every month with the price going up each time. The fine went from £30 to £210 and then it started going down! Then we were threatened with Debt recovery etc and taken to court.

Then the letters stopped. About a year later we got another letter from a different company who had taken over the debts and saying they now took people to court but we still ignored it and they just stopped. We were confident that if we had gone to court that we would have been in the right.

There was a programme about these cowboys and the lawyer said on there to just bin them. There is nothing they can do.

Parking without a ticket.

I can prove I had a ticket and I was shopping in the store at the time.
